Our client is looking for a Saw Operator that will be responsible for cutting the proper material to the correct dimensions, tolerances, and/or other specifications as defined on a job order as well as assisting other operators with troubleshooting equipment, fabrication or related questions within the business units as required.

Our client is a multimillion-dollar grating manufacturer that delivers blends of artistry and safety in their products. They assist their clients from design efforts through to manufacturing and even custom fabrication services in architectural, bridges, environmental, industrial, parks & rec, and public transportation industries. 

Job Functions

  • Cut various grating products as defined by the job orders
  • Verify cutting accuracy while optimizing material usage
  • Accurately review all daily job orders in order to maximize efforts when cutting stock materials
  • Accurately complete all paperwork and timesheets to properly manage inventory
  • Safe operation and use of various power tools
  • Safe operation and usage of forklifts and overhead cranes to assist in the movement and placement of materials
  • Work with other members of a team of fabricators
  • Troubleshoot and assist operators with fabrication or related questions in the business units as required
  • Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned by supervision

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience operating saw operation equipment 
  • Previous experience with fabrication, crane operation, metal processing, and material handling equipment 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as travelers, procedures and instructions and be able to write short notes or memos
  • Strong math skills are required: Knowledge of both metric and inch measuring systems and ability to use and care for precision measuring equipment and tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other tools and gauges
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Knowledge on how to use and safely operate various hand and power tools
  • Team player who possesses both written and verbal communication skills and takes pride in group dynamics and motivating others
