We have a direct hire opportunity for a client in need of an experienced and knowledgeable Product Engineer to join their team. This person will play an essential role in developing and enhancing robust manufacturing/metallurgical processes to support the company’s growth in the aerospace and industrial investment casting markets. The Product Engineer will work to develop, maintain, and teach best practice investment casting procedures and practices to ensure business objectives are satisfied.

About Our Client
Our client is an international manufacturer of high-precision, geometrically complex aerospace & defense components and subassemblies. They specialize in directionally solidified/single crystal castings, investment castings, dry sand, green sand and permanent mold and offer in-house services like rapid prototyping, stem drilling, tool construction, machining, ancillary processing, painting, coating, kitting and assembly. 

Job Functions
  • Identify problems, generate alternatives, and implement solutions to problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach.
  • Take a leadership role occasionally in resolving cross-functional problems.
  • Improve yield by 2% until world class standards are met (continuous improvement).
  • Complete tooling within 5% of originally quoted price.
  • Improve yield at least 80% yield on single crystal products.
  • Support the construction of dies (shrink factor analysis), gages and support tooling needed to produce and inspect ceramic cores, wax patterns and castings.
  • Identify and improve process yields using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process.
  • Interface with tooling vendors and purchasing departments to produce a quality tool/die at a competitive price.
  • Control the dimensional quality of castings to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop internal job instructions.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement new process technologies that will improve manufacturing and product capabilities.
  • Document work procedures and processes.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organizational objectives are met.
  • Publish reports on research and completed tests using data-based decisions.
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Improve labor utilization and reduce cost.
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or related technical field
  • 2-5 years of experience outside of schooling (excluding internships) in Aerospace, Automotive, or other high production Metal Industry
  • Previous experience in a design/product development role
  • Experience with 2d and 3d design software (AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred) 
  • Previous experience in designing tool/die
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
