Plant Operations Manager

The Plant Operations Manager will lead all aspects of the manufacturing operations and continuous improvement activities. Responsible for driving best practices and improving company KPIs for all plant operations to include Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Profitability.
 
About Our Client: Known for metal design, manufacturing and custom fabrication services in the following spaces: architectural, bridges, environmental, industrial, parks & rec and public transportation. 
 
Job Functions of the Plant Manager:
  • Drive a culture of safety through plant and business efforts
  • Oversee the production process
  • Manage resources in order to meet organizational capacity requirements
  • Develop, motivate and encourage a team of 4-8 direct reports through inspirational leadership, relationship building, clear communication, and self-awareness
  • Address and resolve daily operational/personnel issues (e.g., quality, equipment downtime, labor shortages, & availability of material)
  • Administer various Human Resource policies/practices
 
Experience Requirements of the Plant Manager:
  • Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent amount of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years direct manufacturing and supervisory experience at any level
  • Prior shop floor manufacturing experience
  • Preferred experience in steel processing/fabrication
  • Continuous improvement (CI) experiences such as Kaizen, 5S, waste, or standard work
  • Candidates with an understanding of daily cadence and lean management techniques are preferred
  • Experience developing, implementing and following standard operating procedures
  • Experience managing within a P&L or other financial accounting process 
  • Detailed understanding of load, capacity, staffing, and workforce skill sets
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills, effective listening skills, strong interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Highly organized
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal 
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency
  • Positive attitude, collaborative and service-oriented personality
