Position Description:

Who we are:

Our client manufactures a full line of hot pour crack and joint sealants needed to execute a preventative maintenance program for highways, streets, parking lots, and driveways. Our client builds toward a busy season in the summer months but is currently around 20 employees. Our client has doubled production with plant expansion and the previous Plant Manager has been promoted within creating a need for a Plant Manager in our Sandusky, Ohio plant.

Your Role:

As Plant Manager with our client you will be responsible for the daily activities and production of the Plant. In this role, your direct reports will be 2 foreman, 1 bulk truck unloader, and 3-5 maintenance personnel. You will be responsible for budget management and continuous improvement efforts. You will work directly with upper-level ownership to drive production and growth within the company.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Focus on getting the new equipment operational - Plant capacity has doubled
  • Ability to implement and create structure and organizational processes for the following areas:
    • Establish goals & objectives for departments
    • Create & maintain maintenance schedules
    • Continue job S.O.P. for plant functions
    • Schedule safety meetings and topics
    • Assign safety related functions i.e., Fire extinguisher checks, ladder checks, cord checks
  • Daily oversight of full plant operations (including some holidays and weekends when necessary)
  • Maintain safe workplace through safe powered equipment operation & work habits
  • Maintain equipment readiness levels to meet production needs
  • Monitor raw material status & outlook
  • Evaluate & adjust manpower to meet production needs
  • Acquisition of parts and plant equipment maintenance functions

Reporting Relationships:

In this position you will report to the Vice President of Operations.

Position Requirements:

About You:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations and successful implementation through hands on activities (Safety Certification highly desired)
  • 5 years Continuous improvement experience
  • Previous Maintenance experience or related experience with troubleshooting, repairing, or hands on knowledge of plant equipment is desired.
  • Ability to lead change management
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with leadership and colleagues
  • Proficiency in written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to creatively resolve problems and identify solutions through collaboration when required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and work independently
  • Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office software
