We have a direct hire opportunity for a client looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team. This person will be responsible for providing maintenance assistance for the day-to-day rolling mill operations within a heavy manufacturing setting.

Our client is one of Ohio’s most well respected steel manufacturers and skilled trades employers in the area. Providing specialty steel products to automotive and industrial manufacturers throughout the Rust Belt, our client is one of the largest manufacturers of their specialty in the world.

Job Functions
  • Starts devices to test their performance
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantles and repairs mechanical and electrical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
  • Inspects parts to determine salvage ability or method of repairing or reworking parts
  • Prepares and operates metal-working tools, such as engine lathes, milling, drilling, grinding, polishing, and buffing machines to repair parts
  • Files, taps, reams, bends, straightens, or uses other methods to recondition parts, using hand tools
  • Verifies dimensions and tolerances, using blueprints, scale, and precision-measuring instruments
  • Initiate purchase order for parts and machines
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges
  • Lubricates and cleans parts
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records for machinery and equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for repair or transportation
  • Build the foundation for machines
  • Construct and install equipment 
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures
  • Transfer equipment for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards
  • Grind and file machinery parts
  • Work with a range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding and brazing equipment
  • Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use when moving equipment and completing jobs
Requirements
  • Must have knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, rigging, welding, fabricator systems, conveyor systems, gearboxes and mechanical power transmissions.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent 
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include holidays, weekends, rotating shifts and overtime
