Job Functions of the Manual Machinist:
  • Set up and operate various shop machines, such as the drill press, Bridgeport turket press, surface grinder, O.D. grinder, and milling machine
  • Load/unload, lift and handle parts
  • Fabricate and modify tooling and fixtures
  • Measure assembled parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Keep tooling organized and complete necessary documentation
 
Experience Required of the Manual Machinist:
  • Must be mechanically inclined 
  • Knowledge of micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators
  • Must be able to read blueprints
