We have a client looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician who has spent several years working in a manufacturing environment. This person will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, constructing, adjusting, modifying and servicing all types of electronic equipment such as overhead cranes and other mobile equipment throughout the facility. 

About Our Client
Our client is one of Ohio’s most well respected steel manufacturers and skilled trades employers in the area. Providing special bar quality (SBQ) steel to automotive and industrial manufacturers throughout the Rust Belt, our client is one of the largest SBQ manufacturers in the world.

Job Functions

  • Obtain from files, drawings wiring diagrams, specifications, instructions and sketches needed for scheduled or emergency repairs, installations, or inspection work.
  • Interpret drawings and sketches, plans and determines work procedures.
  • Work independently and/or directs operating personnel and/or assigns work to other maintenance personnel in inspecting, dismantling, cleaning, replacing, repairing, installing, adjusting, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining all Electrical and Electronic Control devices associated with Steel Making Equipment including furnaces and combustion controls and EOT cranes.
  • Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify, or service all types of electronic devices and systems, including communication systems and various Steel Making process and production equipment, electronic computing and control systems, power and distribution control equipment, measuring, recording, and control devices.
  • Plan details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and selects a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems.  
  • Create sketches of parts and layouts; designs and constructs adaptations or conversions of component parts.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, etc… required for repairing Electrical and Electronic equipment.
  • Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace, faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic device.  
  • Perform maintenance on HVAC units as well as minor mechanical functions associated with the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Set up and operate burning equipment to dismantle assemblies, heat and cut material to size and shapes.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded and set up assemblies and welds parts such as brackets, installs braces, pipe supports, and shelving.  
  • Inspect cranes for electrical defects in control systems, brakes, and switches, etc. and make repairs as required.
  • Cut, bend, thread, and install conduit.
  • Maintain, install, or repair all communication cables and wiring, make power cable splices, climb on buildings, towers, and shop equipment to make inspections, repairs, and installations.
  • Operate overhead cranes, and any mobile equipment required in conjunction with repair of the equipment.
  • Perform maintenance as required to gas, diesel, electric, and propane operated mobile equipment to support the operations.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Machine Maintenance or Electrical Maintenance 
  • Journeyman experience 
  • Working knowledge with high and low voltage
  • Self disciplined and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a team environment while being self-motivated
  • Crane Operation experience
