We have a client looking for experienced Machine Operators to join their fast-paced team and play a hands-on role in the construction of their products. This person will independently operate a machine that converts large mill rolls of paper into fanfold paper or rewinds paper into rolls.

Job Functions

  • Operate a fanfold machine or rewinding machine ensuring the product is cut to proper length and width
  • Load rolls of paper on the machine back stand and thread paper between feed rollers to wind smaller rolls of 2-ply or 3-ply of paper
  • Observe the flow of material through the machine to detect and correct irregular cutting and winding
  • Guide fanfold bundles into off-load conveyor once the bundle is finished
  • Adjust machine settings such as air pressures for brakes, tension, and web control 
  • Adjust speed controls and alignment settings for the paper
  • Remove the product from the conveyor and place it on a pallet in an upright or horizontal position according to the skid loading diagram
  • Applies splice tape to bundle and may apply splice tape to rolls.
  • Check finished products to ensure it meets product specs and rework as required
  • Verify the product is correct to schedule and set up
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience in running industrial machinery
  • Ability to make necessary machine adjustments when out of tolerance
  • Ability to learn and run multiple machines with a high level of efficiency
  • Basic machine knowledge
  • Lift truck experience helpful
  • Ability to move or lift 20 to 135 pounds
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good attendance record
  • Basic math skills
