Our client has grown to be a recognized leader in the refractory industry, offering an extensive line of refractory precast shapes and castables for the Steel, Aluminum, Cement & Thermoprocessing industries. Our client is the innovator in utilizing steel fibers in castables, this wire reinforced castable led to the development of the SIFCA® (Slurry Infiltrated Fiber Castable) process, a method for producing precast shapes with a high-volume percent of stainless-steel fibers. Your Role:

As a Design Engineer you will be a full-time direct hire for our client. In this role, you will prepare detailed drawings and complete mechanical drawings of components and assemblies for large scale products. In this position you will work closely with colleagues and provide solutions to customer problems. As a Design Engineer, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager to help resolve design problems. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Verify work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Checks dimensions and bill of materials and quantities.
  • Provides design modifications to existing products.
  • Revises size, shape, and arrangement of parts to create practical designs.
  • Analyze specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, ideas and related design data to determine critical factors affecting design of components.
  • Draw rough sketches and perform mathematical formulas and physical laws and use conventional and computerized work aids to make calculations.
  • Performs preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings adequate for detailing parts and units of design.
  • Maintains a library to use as reference for marketing materials, technical support and design.
  • Observe good housekeeping and safety habits, and follow Fosbel policies and procedures.

Travel Requirements:

Less than 10%

Reporting Relationships:

In this position you will report to the Engineering Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred 
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience of 5 plus years designing unique larger scale products
  • Minimum of 2-3 years, refractory space, cement, or aluminum experience
  • Experience with Autodesk inventor or equivalent software
