We have a direct hire opportunity for a client in search of a Plate Burner Operator in Northeast, Ohio. This person will perform moderate to advanced production activities requiring skill and competency in production process and machine operation.

Job Functions
  • Reviews specifications, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications.
  • Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane.
  • Chooses correct material for the job according to work order. Inspects plates for thickness, length, width, heat number, grade specification and color code.
  • Sets up machine, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed rates, location of cutting, lines dimensions, tolerances, operational sequences and uses gauges, calipers, squares, rulers for measurement.
  • Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand tools.
  • Performs quality control inspections on finished products.
  • Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine.
  • Stacks, bands and palletizes finished products for shipment to customers.
  • Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a plasma/oxy burner in a production plant.
  • Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years shop experience operating a CNC Machine. Willing to train the right individual with prior Machining experience. Burn table, Oxy fuel, plasma, Bug-o track burner experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, follow work orders, and work in small teams
  • Ability to layout bevels and trim lines, inspect and use inspection tools
  • Understand shop math
  • Material handling experience — overhead crane picking and lifting, use of chains
  • and plate clamps
  • Ability to perform physical labor and lift at least 50 pounds
  • Experience cutting various types of steel and alloys preferred 
  • Plasma Bug-o burning preferred 
  • Welding experience preferred 
  • Advanced layout experience preferred 
  • Fitting experience preferred
